My interest in Six the Musical began soon after I finished my A-levels. Britain’s Got Talent was on, and Mum was watching it. She found out about it and showed it to me. After that, I became obsessed with it (which is the proper word for it this time). Most of the time, I would use Special Interests, but obsession seems more appropriate for my interest in SIX.
SIX the Musical- Countdown to seeing the show
As SIX the Musical was going on tour, Mum and I booked to view it. My interest kept growing, and for my birthday, I received a SIX the Musical t-shirt and the CD. Listening to the soundtrack would make me feel happy, so I would listen to it close to non-stop when I have my headphones on. I would also watch videos of SIX on YouTube, and there are plenty there.
As the day we were going to see SIX November the 30th, grew closer, I became a little more excited. By this point, I have been obsessed with SIX for months, and I couldn’t believe that I would be able to see it.

SIX the Musical- day of the show
When we arrived at Milton Keynes, where we saw the show, we had some trouble getting parked as so many people were in town that day. We had to park at a higher level, but it wasn’t so bad.
We brought a programme first, which was priced at £5 which includes information about the queens and the cast and crew. I also brought a t-shirt with the six queens on and two lapel pins, ‘The 10 amongst these 3’s’ and ‘I don’t need your love’, which is said by my two favourite queens in the show- Katherine Howard and Catherine Parr. I also picked up a flyer of the show.
While we were waiting for the theatre to let us into the auditorium, Mum spotted one of my favourite YouTubers, Bryony Rose. Bryony does a lot of SIX the Musical related content, and I enjoy watching her videos. I was able to have a photograph with her, which made me happy.
When we got into the theatre, a lot of the spaces were empty, but it filled up quickly. We were watching the 3:30p.m. show as I would need time in the evening to calm down. When the show began, I was close to crying tears of joy as I couldn’t believe that it was happening. This was the first time I saw the show, and I didn’t know what to expect. However, I loved every moment of it; there were funny moments and I enjoyed it.
We didn’t have any alternates, and I love the cast we saw. Each actress was able to portray their queen perfectly, and each of them had their moment to shine. In musicals or with any type of media, it can be difficult for each character to have their moments or for the writers to favour one above another. This didn’t happen with SIX; each has their own personality, so it is not only the costumes that set them apart.
The show is set almost concert-like with the lights and the Queens breaking the fourth wall to interact with the audience. Each queen interacts with the audience differently through their lines or song, and the live versions of the songs sound much better than the soundtrack.
Refection on SIX the Musical
I loved seeing SIX the Musical, and I believe that each cast member would bring something different to the show. This means that if you have a different cast member, they will do different things to another but still portray the character wonderfully. I would enjoy seeing SIX a second time, but I might give it some time since the tickets are expensive, whether you see it in the West End, on tour or even in America or Australia.
I have other special interests if you want to check them out.
