Visiting Hever Castle

At the end of August, I visited Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn and her siblings, Mary and George. The Gardens at Hever Castle The gardens around Hever Castle are incredible, and there are plenty of photo opportunities. The gardens looked beautiful at the end of August, and the weather was perfect, so I could enjoy the grounds. I enjoyed exploring the grounds. There is a lot to see, and the back of Hever Castle looks interesting. Visitors can take great photos there. Hever Castle To get to the castle, you must walk through the grounds. However, the Read More

My Top 5 Historical Fiction Books

I decided to write a list of my top 5 historical fiction books since historical fiction is the genre I read the most. My Top Five Historical Fiction Books: How I Came To The Decision I struggled to decide which books would fall within my top five since I read so much historical fiction. Then, I also had to determine whether I wanted most or all set in the same era. I mostly read about the Six Wives of Henry VIII or the Titanic, which limits how much historical fiction I enjoy. If you’d like to read my blog post Read More

Why I Love Researching The Olympic Class Liners

The Olympic Class Liners are three ships built by the White Star line in the 1910s. These are the RMS Olympic, RMS Titanic, and HMHS Britannic. Out of these three ships, only the Titanic is well-remembered due to sinking on her maiden voyage. However, her sister ships have also had interesting careers, and I would love to share my interest in these ships with you. Where My Interest in the Olympic Class Liners began In 2012, I first heard of the Olympic Class Liners through the 1997 James Cameron Titanic film. As it was the centenary, there were a lot Read More

Special interests: Historical Fiction

I enjoy reading historical fiction because all of the characters and settings are mostly in place. It also shows the reader that the author can do their research. I love the feeling when the author gets something right; it shows the passion they have for their work. With any genre in fiction, it is easy not to describe things in the detail they need. Still, some authors go above and beyond to give the reader the full experience. The best authors do not focus on sight alone; but also bring in other senses, such as hearing, smell and touch. Special Interests: SIX the Musical

My interest in Six the Musical began soon after I finished my A-levels. Britain’s Got Talent was on, and Mum was watching it. She found out about it and showed it to me. After that, I became obsessed with it (which is the proper word for it this time). Most of the time, I would use Special Interests, but obsession seems more appropriate for my interest in SIX. SIX the Musical- Countdown to seeing the show As SIX the Musical was going on tour, Mum and I booked to view it. My interest kept growing, and for my birthday, I Read More

Visiting Hampton Court Palace

Visiting Hampton Court Palace has already topped my favourite days so far in 2019. Upon arrival, it was easy to park in a field opposite the palace. You do need to pay to enter the palace, and pricing can be found on the official website for Hampton Court Palace, https://www.hrp.org.uk/hampton-court-palace/#gs.w3ckw2. I brought a guide book before beginning so that I can read it after my visit. After entering the palace, we explored Henry VIII’s kitchens, which is forty-five rooms that were used to feed the Court, which contained at least six thousand people. As such, Hampton Court Palace was built Read More

Visiting Bradgate Park

After visiting Bradgate Park, I felt hopeful and excited. This visit made me feel freer than my visit to Sudeley Castle. Bradgate Park, located in Leicestershire, is surrounded by parkland. There is a mile between the two information centres, meaning that I walked at least two miles that day. Due to this, I had to take a break before I reached the visitor’s centre at both ends, but it was well worth it because I came away with a smile. Bradgate Park has a lot of open space and allows people to do what they want to do within reason. Read More

Visiting Sudeley Castle

After visiting Sudeley Castle, I have come away from my visit unhappy. Several reasons lead to me having this feeling as we were driving out of the car park. The first reason for my visit to Sudeley Castle becoming unsatisfactory was the food served at the café. They served sandwiches, but the bread was extremely thick, and I had salad in my egg mayonnaise sandwich. Due to the salad, it led me to pick it out of my sandwich; which took some time. If you plan to visit Sudeley Castle, I suggest that you take your own picnic so you Read More
