In October, I visited Coventry to see Six the Musical for the second time. We got there an hour before the show to ensure we had plenty of time to get parked and buy the merchandise I wanted before we found our seats. We sat at the top, so Mum and I had a great view of the stage.
Six the Musical Hoodie
Before seeing the show for a second time, I created a Six the Musical themed hoodie. If you want to discover how I created it, you can find the link here. I loved wearing the hoodie, and going to the theatre was the first time I wore it properly, and it felt comfortable.
Six the Musical: Second UK Tour cast vs Fourth UK Tour cast
Six the Musical is all about not comparing the different casts, but as the second UK tour cast was the first cast I’ve seen, that cast will hold a special place in my heart. When I first saw the show, I saw Lauren Drew as Catherine of Aragon, Maddison Bulleyment as Anne Boleyn, Lauren Byrne as Jane Seymour, Shekinah McFarlane as Anna of Cleves, Jodie Steele as Katherine Howard and Athena Collins as Catherine Parr. You can find the blog post here if you want to read about that visit. All of the cast were the principals, so we got to see the costumes before the change to the Broadway costumes.

This time, we saw Chlöe Hart as Catherine of Aragon, Jennifer Caldwell as Anne Boleyn, Casey Al-Shaqsy as Jane Seymour, Jessica Niles as Anna of Cleves, Leesa Tulley as Katherine Howard, and Alana Robinson as Catherine Parr. All but Leesa were the principal cast members, while Leesa was playing Howard as the person who played Katherine Howard in the UK tour left the production and as of posting, there is no announcement of who will be the principal actress for Katherine Howard.
I have to say that Leesa is one of my favourite Howards now, but I still love the first cast I saw. There are also a lot of Six the Musical videos on YouTube, which is a great place to look.
The show has changed a little since I last seen it in 2019, but it was still incredible. One of the changes I noticed was before Parr’s song, I Don’t Need Your Love. Before the changes, the queens would take turns talking to Parr and trying to talk her out of singing. This time, when Parr is trying to explain with what is wrong with them doing the competition, some of the queens pretend to mock her. That is an interesting change because it shows how divided the queens are before Parr’s song begins, but it shows them uniting on another front that they don’t agree with Parr.
I remember the conversation that happens between the queens between the two parts of I Don’t Need Your Love well. I think there was one thing that changed, and that was the length of time the queens spent standing around looking at the audience before one of them said they should have realised competing with each other makes them become one of Henry’s wives and they should reclaim their stories. While that was in the version of the show I seen in 2019, I remember it better because the second time around seemed to have more impact.
We were able to get a megasix this time, which you can view below. Sorry if the quality at the beginning isn’t great, but it improves in Parr’s segment.
My Six the Musical Merchandise
Since seeing the show in 2019, I have brought more merchandise. I have the rest of the quote pins, a mug which I have on display, a poster, two programmes (one with the London cast and one with the UK tour cast between 2020 and 2021) and two of the costume pins (Anne Boleyn and Anna of Cleves). I brought a second t-shirt with the silhouettes of the queens, the remaining costume pins and a programme with the new cast. In the photos, you can see I am wearing all the lyric pins and four of the costume pins. All six pins did fit on my hoodie, but they would make a lot of noise, so I only wore four.
I loved seeing Six the Musical for a second time, and it was a fantastic day out.

The day after the show, Mum helped me put the pins in a frame she brought me for my birthday so I can keep all the pins together. It is a fantastic idea because all the pins work well together even if the shades used on the lyric pins are slightly different from the costume ones.
